Product Description
Those who prize older instruments with the battered look of years on the road and the scars of countless gigs can still have that authentically aged vibe without spending decades on the road themselves. The irresistibly cool look of finish worn through to the wood, lightly rusted hardware, a bruised neck and yellowing plastic parts are yours right away with Road Worn instruments.
The Road Worn '60s Jazzmaster sounds, looks and feels like it's been there and back, has more than a few miles on it, and then some. With authentic 1960's styling aged to impart a lifetime of wear and tear that has somehow made it get even better, it's a must-have for the guitar player who appreciates broken-in look and vibe. Includes gig bag.
Other Features: Distressed Body, Neck and Hardware Creating an Aged Appearance, Aged White Plastic Parts, Vintage Tinted Neck, Single "Wing" StringTree, Vintage-Style Strap Buttons, Vintage-Style Heel Adjust Truss Rod, Pop-In Tremolo Arm.

The fender Jazzmaster is an eye catching guitar with a cult following. I have been a fan of the road worn series guitars for years now. When I saw that the road worn series was offering a Jazzmaster I was sure to jump on the deal. There's a lot of debate on buying these guitars either because of thir wear (if you like it buy it, if you don't.. then dont but it) or becuase they are made by fender mexico. In terms of quality, I'll admit there are some guitars to stick your nose up at that come at of fender mexico. Ceramic pickups, veneered 5 piece bodys and shotty set up jobs are some of the things that mexican guitars are known for (and to no surprise if youre paying less than half the amount of USA standard)but guitar is priced to host premium features unlike the undesirable mentioned above thus I felt justified buying this guitar for the price despite it's country of origin. It is a premium guitar. The earlier models of the road worn series (Strat and tele) were known for having poor set up jobs out of the factory. My Jazzmaster arrived in a acceptable playing condition and was only modified for preference. Also, did you know that this guitar comes with the same ALNICO pick ups at the expensie USA Jazzmaster? This was also a deal maker feater for me. Some reissue JM's are known for having strat pickups in soap bar housing VS traditional JM single coil horizontal pancake winding. They're the real deal.
For the finish job it looks good and believeable. I've had it turn a few heads so far and people have a hard time believing me that I bought the guitar new. It I didn't strive for honesty, I'd start telling them it was vintage to save the explaining... it looks great, the metal and wood are reliced well. The next back is also reliced well and plays to the reputation of these guitars (well). This guitar is worn less than other road worn series guitars i've seen. This is cool by me as it leaves room for me to wear it in over time. :)
Ok, not the "bad" news. Let me first say I am not a "mod" guy. I think a lot of mods are stupid and unnessiary and the people who do them fickle cork sniffers who have never persevered to create anything satisfactory with music. You can get a lot done with minimal gear (that's my philosphy at least). I'm the kind of person who would rather learn a tool before i change it.. if at all. Anyway.. i digress...
If you want an accurate represtation of a Jazzmaster this should do the trick. If do any amount of Jazzmaster research you'll know that they have a reputation for buzzing bridges... this guitar has that. I bought a buzz stop to solve this problem (vs changing for a mustang bridge). They're not too pricey but hey... buy a jazz master, what else should you expect. The buzzing doesn't come through my amp (that i noticed)
The thing that made me pretty upset about this guitar is that it DOESN'T have a tremolo lock!!! Which is fine, if you're playing at home, but if you're a live player have fun with this guitar if you break a string.. the whole guitar will go out of tune. Having a lock prevents the guitar going out of tune and can let you at a minimum finish a song so you can collect yourself and recover. I just ordered the USA Fender Temolo as a replacement (it should fit). Like when you get your car fixed and you find that the most miniscule parts cost stupid money, I wasn't too thrilled about the price of the replacement tremolos but.. i want to keep the guitar.. so here i am, let's hope this is a last of the mods.
I have to run sorry for the typos but I hope this helps. Wanted to give it 3 stars but am giving it 4 because it is a solid guitar... just plays host to some stupid faults.

.Great guitar but be prepared to make it right!
First finish is super dull, I doesnt look reliced, it looks unfinished, but with some rubbing compound the finish shines up, the neck is perfect 60s profile but again seams finished with 400 grit paper, and no finish left, go over it with 1000 grit and finish with tung oil and your set.
Electrics are hit and miss, good pots but 1MEG doesnt work well with very very bright pups. replace with 250k vol and 500k tone, pups are super clean and low output so they got replaced with 8ohm and 10.5 ohm pups from Sunday Handwounds
Tremolo is great I bought the lock parts and adding them, replace the bridge with a mustang and your set. Tuners are not aged at all so replaced with all parts aged tuners, and the gleaming white pickguard does nothing to add to the Road Word look unlike the ones on the strats, get a tort and age it or maybe an aged pearl or mint

This beast is amazing in many ways. The finish is tasteful and gorgeous. The neck is well worn on the back and allows for lots of room to play and get creative. The tone is pristine. It is a bummer having to swap out the tremolo for a vintage locking unit, but if you play live it is a non negotiable upgrade. I swapped the bridge out with a mustang one and strung it with twelves. This is my dream guitar. I entered into the world of jazzys with the classic player, but after finding out how different it was from the real thing, I had to get my hands on the real deal for a bargain. I am so glad I chose to add this guitar to the family. It has broadened my musical horizons for sure.Fender Road Worn '60s Jazzmaster Electric Guitar 3-Color Sunburst
